Esther Armendariz is a freelance trombone player and teacher based in Oakland, CA.
I currently play principal trombone with the Santa Cruz Symphony and second trombone with the Stockton Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Silicon Valley. In 2016, I played a year-long substitute position as associate principal/2nd trombone with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a sub, I've had the pleasure of performing with the San Francisco Symphony, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, The San Francisco Opera, The San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, The Jalisco Philharmonic, and regional orchestras throughout the bay area.
Another facet of my musical life is being an active chamber musician, as a founding member of Brass Over Bridges, a brass quintet of performers and educators passionate about engaging audiences both in concert and in schools.
I received a master's degree in trombone performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and bachelor's degrees in trombone performance and public relations from the University of Southern California .
My primary teachers have been Timothy Higgins (San Francisco Symphony), Kyle Covington (San Diego Symphony) and Terry S. Cravens (LA Opera).
